Welcome to the Jim Murdoch Creative Services website. JMCS is a coverall trading ID for me, Jim Murdoch. Offering ‘creative services’ allows me flexibility in and around my core activities of creative writing, copywriting/editing and foreign language translation. It allows me to be known as ‘that creative services bloke’ rather than ‘Jim the translator’ or ‘Jim the copywriter’, which can be rather exclusive titles.

So how come I’m so creative and why would you want to offer me work?

Good question(s). I believe I’m creative because I only have a short attention span – it’s taken me years to work this out, or at least make it semi-plausible, if only to myself. I digress… My attention span quickly switches from the main idea and in the best tradition of what is known as ‘lateral thinking’ side-steps to another related idea – this connection can vary immensely in its er, connectedness… The clever bit is capturing the cluster of ideas and then relating them to one another in a useful way. I’m constantly working on this ‘clever bit’. Being able to write gives me my prime arena for this expression. Others may paint, write programming code, or whatever.

Why would you offer me work? Well, if you can go with the above …and you’ve reached here at least, then you might want to consider working with someone who is interesting and fun to work with who and might just come up with something a bit different. You may also be a gambler. I am with lots of things – except money.
